# An error occurred while updating SEOPress PRO: Download failed. Unauthorized

## The error

Your license is marked as “Active” but you received this error when you tried to update the plugin to the latest version:

```
"An error occurred while updating SEOPress PRO: Download failed. Unauthorized"
```

## Why is this happening?

You have probably made a domain migration (local to production or a domain name change).

Or your WordPress upgrade transients are out of date.

## How to solve this?

You have to link your domain name back to our site.

Go to **SEO**, **License** and click **Reset your license** button.

The page reloads.

Then paste your **license key** in the field and **Save changes**.

Finally, click **Activate license**.

If you see the green status “**active**“, it’s good.

You should now be able to update the plugin.

If it still not the case, try to clear your transients with a Transient manager plugin (eg: [Transients Manager](https://wordpress.org/plugins/transients-manager/)).

Finally, please open a ticket from your customer area if the issue is still there.

## How to prevent this?

We strongly recommend you to [add your license key to your wp-config.php file for automatic activation](https://www.seopress.org/support/guides/activate-seopress-pro-license/#add-my-license-key-to-wp-config-php) (especially if your site address changes).
