# Get started with SEOPress

## Requirements

We recommend servers running **version 7.4 or greater of PHP (8.4 max) and MySQL version 5.6 OR MariaDB version 10.0 or greater**.

We also recommend either **Apache** or **Nginx**.

### PHP configuration

`DOM`**, **`mbstring` and `intl` are three required PHP modules for SEOPress. They are usually installed by default on webhost. If one of these module is missing, an alert appears from the notifications center. Contact your webhost if it the case.

Check also your PHP configuration from your **WordPress Admin**, **Tools**, **Site Health**, **Info** tab, **Server** section. These values should match your configuration:

- **Max input time**: `>= 60`
- **Upload max filesize**: `>= 50M`
- **PHP post max size**: `>= 50M`
- **Memory limit**: `>= 256M`

### WordPress configuration

**WordPress 6.5** is the minium required version, we strongly recommend the latest one available.

Make sure you have enabled **custom permalinks** (URL rewriting) from **Settings**, **Permalinks**. **SEOPress** will show you an alert from the notifications center.

## SEOPress free release: Installation

Login to your **WordPress website**, and go to **Plugins**, **Add new**, search **SEOPress**.

Click **Install now**.

**Activate** and that’s it!

## SEOPress Pro: Installation

First of all, you have to [buy SEOPress PRO](https://www.seopress.org/wordpress-seo-plugins/pro/), and download it from your [customer area](https://www.seopress.org/account/).

Then, go to your **WordPress admin**, **Plugins**, **Add new** and **upload the ZIP file** of our plugin.

Click **Activate**.

Note that the **[Free version](https://www.seopress.org/wordpress-seo-plugins/free/)** is also required to use [**SEOPress PRO**](https://www.seopress.org/wordpress-seo-plugins/pro/). It will be automatically downloaded, installed and activated when you enable the PRO plugin from your WordPress admin.
