Add ProfilePage schema to author archives

SEOPress PRO can describe WordPress author archives with ProfilePage structured data. The page’s main entity is a Person built from the author’s WordPress profile. This feature is available since PRO 9.5 and does not turn every ordinary page into a profile.

Prepare the public author profile

  1. Install and activate SEOPress Free and PRO.
  2. Open Users > Profile, or edit another user if your account has permission.
  3. Check the public display name, biographical information, website and avatar. Enter accurate information that you are comfortable publishing.
  4. Save the profile and visit the author archive. Make sure its visible biography describes the same person.

The generated person can include the display name, username as an alternate name, user ID as an identifier, biography, avatar, author URL and published-post count. Review the public result rather than assuming only the display name is exposed. In the 10.2 workflow, check the profile’s Website field for the external link included in sameAs.

Enable ProfilePage globally

  1. Open SEO > PRO > Structured Data Types.
  2. Enable the option to add ProfilePage schema markup to author archive pages.
  3. Save changes and clear relevant caches.
  4. Open an author archive and inspect its page source for ProfilePage and mainEntity.

You do not need to create an automatic schema template for every author. The feature identifies the current WordPress author archive and builds its Person data.

Exclude one author

Edit that user’s profile, find SEO – ProfilePage Schema, select Disable ProfilePage schema and save. This excludes the author without turning off the feature for everyone. To remove the markup from all author archives, turn off the global ProfilePage option.

Check archive visibility and noindex separately

ProfilePage does not enable a disabled author archive, remove redirects or override noindex. Check author-archive settings in SEO > Titles & Metas > Archives and any individual robots settings.

A page can contain structured data while remaining noindex. If the archive is intentionally excluded from search, keep that choice; adding schema does not make it indexable. If you want search engines to use the page, confirm it is publicly accessible and its indexing settings match that intent.

Validate the result

Test the public author URL with Google’s Rich Results Test and Schema.org Validator. Confirm that the person, biography, image and links are correct. Valid structured data does not guarantee a rich result or a ranking improvement.

If nothing appears, confirm you are testing a real author archive, the global option is enabled, the user has not opted out and the response is not cached. A normal About page or a builder’s custom profile page is not automatically a WordPress author archive.

Developers who only want to hide profile-editing fields should read the profile-fields hook guide. Hiding editing controls is different from disabling public schema output.
