This guide covers SEOPress Insights 3.1 and later. The Insights admin was entirely rebuilt in this version, so the screenshots and wording of older releases no longer apply.
Enable email notifications
Go to your WordPress admin, Insights, Settings page, then open the Alerts tab.
Choose All your keywords or Only your favorite keywords from the Email notifications field to enable the notifications by mail. Pick None (disable email notifications) to turn them off.
Define at least one recipient. To add more recipients, separate them by commas.
Then choose an Email frequency: Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
Save changes.
You will now receive your rankings by mail depending on the frequency set.
Choose which keywords are included
Three more fields control the content of the report:
- Order keywords by: order your rankings in email notifications by Keyword, Position or Variation.
- Keywords sorting: Ascending or Descending.
- Position change threshold: only include a keyword when its position moved by more than this number. Set it to 0 to include all your keywords, or to 3 for instance to receive a short email listing only the keywords that really moved.
Customize the email
Leave these fields empty to use the defaults, which already mention the frequency and your site name.
- Custom subject: the subject line of the email.
- Custom title: the heading displayed at the top of the report.
- Custom description: an introduction of your own, useful when you forward the report to a client. The following HTML tags are allowed:
strong,em,branda href.
What the email contains
Each report is built from the data collected during the selected period and includes:
- a summary with your Visibility Score, your Est. Monthly Clicks and the number of Keywords in Top 10;
- Position Milestones: the keywords that entered or exited the Top 3, the Top 10 or page 1–2 since the previous report;
- your rankings table, with the Keywords, their Position and their Variation;
- Backlink Changes: how many links you gained and lost, with the source and the anchor of each new and lost backlink;
- a Full report button that takes you back to the Insights dashboard.
If no ranking is available yet, the email tells you so instead of arriving empty. Wait 24 to 48 hours after adding your keywords for the first report to be meaningful.
Receive the same alerts on Slack
The Slack section at the bottom of the same tab takes a Slack Webhook URL. Once it is filled in, you receive your rankings daily and your backlink changes weekly in the channel of your choice.
